What is a Dissolution Dosage Form and Why Do Time Points Matter?
💊
What is a Dosage Form?
A dosage form is the physical form in which a drug is delivered to the patient — tablet, capsule, ODT, etc. Each dosage form has a different release mechanism: immediate-release forms dissolve quickly, while sustained- or extended-release forms release the drug slowly over hours. The dissolution profile is unique to each dosage form and must be monitored at specific time points to confirm the product behaves as intended.

Why Are Time Points Important?
Dissolution time points are the specific moments during a test at which samples are withdrawn from each vessel and analyzed. Choosing the correct time points is critical — too few and you miss important release events; too many and the test becomes impractical. USP, ICH, and FDA guidelines define standard sampling schedules for each dosage form. This tool helps you select and customize the right time points for your SOP.

How to Use This Guide
- Select Dosage Form: Choose your dosage form from the dropdown — standard USP/ICH time points load automatically as panels.
- Edit Time: Each panel shows the time in hours and minutes — edit directly inside the panel.
- Add Time Points: Click "+ Add Time Point" to add a new panel. Maximum is 24 h (1440 min).
- Remove Time Points: Click "✕ Remove" on any panel header to delete it. At least one must remain.
- Min / Max Limit (%): Optionally set per-time-point acceptance limits (e.g. Min 70%, Max 110%) for your protocol.
